Not Much Geek Traction Today

Well, today wasn’t as productive as I’d've liked. My management duties got in the way, and I didn’t have any time to hack. First, there was the tech managers meeting (w/c I didn’t particularly enjoy — I have to work on my filters, but that’s a different story altogether), and then there was that one project meeting, then there were these issues with our problematic Clever client, then this email I had to answer, blah blah blah… the list goes on. Only my manager lobes got engaged, and my geek lobes never got a chance to assert itself.

Politics, internal and external, just sap the geek out of me. Hacking people is so much more difficult than hacking code. And more exhausting. But then again, helping people — particularly geeks — also feels a lot more rewarding to a manager.

Anyway, I’ll see if I can hack some more over the weekend. Oh and for the record, I blame Google for making me this interested in hacking again. Dammit.
